TUESDAY TRAVELS

Slim and trim in 1971 at a rental cabin.

Kentucky Lake.

In . . . . Kentucky, of course.

We arrived after a 300 mile drive from Indianapolis, only to learn we were in a "dry" county. No hootch for sale!

Next day we drove to Paducah, across the county line, and found the biggest, best, most fully stocked liquor store we'd ever seen.

  1. I guess they just make their own.

  2. Long story but I went to buy a set of call letters from a station in Kentucky. The county was dry, to get a drink you had to drive to Hazzard a 50 mile round trip. The station owner and I had lunch in Hazzard. I mentioned that it was a long way to go for a cocktail at lunch. The good old boy said "not too bad, but it's a son of a bitch driving back home after closing time."

  3. Fun photograph. There aren't many slim pictures of me waiting to be posted.

  4. That must have been taken before you cut off your state-line-crossing shorts.

  5. Facts and a picture which mark the memory!

  6. Reminds me of the time I was sent to Salt Lake City to work for a while. It was pretty darn tricky to get a drink there too.
