RUSHING THE SEASON?

The temperature didn't reach 60 here yesterday and it rained most of the day.

But that didn't stop the Goldfinch couple.

They were enjoying the birdbath for its true purpose: bathing.

One of the couple was a bit cautious while the other threw caution to the winds.

And water into the air.

Finally it became too much of a temptation and the reticent one joined the other in a communal cold water soak.

The tiny birds put on a good show for my camera before flying up into the tree to shake it all off.

All I could think was: brrrrr!

  2. It was quite chilly down here yesterday too! I love to watch the birds enjoying a splash in the water.

  3. I guess having a heart that beats twice as fast as a human's keeps their little bodies warm when it's cold outside.

  4. I just had a family of Mountain Jays at the old swimming hole. Mama, Papa and a fledgling all took turns drinking and a quick wade for one or two in the pool. I was only able to manage two pictures of one of them drinking. I may never leave my window.
