THE END IS NEAR

Can you believe it?

Only two more days remain until this campaign flutters to an end.

Speaking of which . . .

I found the remains of this beautiful creature on the floor of my garage the other day.

I've often thought, as I watched the butterflies flitting around, why they were named that.

It seems a more apt name would have been flutter-bys.

  1. That is, or was, a painted lady butterfly, you get them all over the world.

They are called butterflies, I've heard, from the brimstone yellow ones which are amongst the earliest to appear in northern Europe anyway.

There you are, more than you needed or wanted to know. Anything to distract from thinking about what might happen on Tuesday.

  2. Sadly, I think regardless of who wins this election, the drama and negativity will not go away.

  3. I agree with Joe. The rancor will not die away on November 9th. It will still be with us till we come to our senses and understand that we must work together, we must accept some give-and-take.

  4. I also agree with the foregoing commenters. That is precisely the state of affairs after the UK Referendum. The recent, personal attacks by the press on the three judges in the "Clause 50" debacle is outrageous. I simply do not understand how so many US citizens can find anything in Mr. Donald Trump worth supporting. And why did Mrs. Hillary Clinton choose to swap crap with him?

  5. I suspect if things go as expected, with Trump losing, it's going to get really, really ugly after the fact.

  6. Now you've got me scratching my head and wondering why they were ever called butterflies.

  7. I think you were on to something with your substitute butterfly name!! However I think you've missed your assessment on "it being over" in two days. Regardless of winner I suspect we are going to be in for a grind unlike anything we have seen in our life times.

  8. Perhaps on Nov 8th you can just have a video of The Doors doing "This is the end..."
It seems odd that the Montana scenery looks the same from my front window; occasional deer scamper across the mountainside, two days I saw a bear gallumphing along going downhill. They seem oddly unaware that the weird humans they see are in such a panic.

  9. I'm not in a panic and the reference to "the end is near" is only to this campaign. Sorry if I misled some of my Gentle Readers.

    1. No, no no, Bruce. Didn't mean to imply any of that. Not a bit. The first sentence was meant to be humor, the rest just that life seems go on outside our human concerns....the deer still eat, etc.
      Sorry,
      Mike
