THE FRIDAY FUNNIES

Yikes! What happened to our balmy weather?

Well, at least here in the Central Highlands of Arizona.

The mercury is dipping dangerously close to the freezing point overnight and is hovering in the 50's in the daytime.

I know, I know, but for we Arizonans that's brrrrr weather.

And it's been rainy for days which prompts me to revive an age-old sardonic line of mine.

"Doesn't the sun ever shine in Arizona?"

Well, it does, more even than in the so-called Sunshine State over on the southeast coast.

But enough about my angst.

There are more important events on the horizon.

Some interesting culinary choices for National Eating Day coming up, aren't there?

Well you have a weekend to prepare for your grandiloquent feast.

So make it a good one.

Practice, practice, practice.

And always remember to keep laughing.

Here, kitty-kitty . . .

( . . . oh, she's been practicing . . . )

  3. Great batch, especially the Polkageist for my Polish friends in Michigan!! I'm with you, Lori, I didn't quite get the waffle. I'm sure I'll groan when the answer pops up! Happy Thanksgiving to all! Carla (bobandcarla.foster@gmail.com)

  4. Our grandson has been too scared to sleep by himself for three weeks so I love the one with the mom and the monster. Maybe that would allay his fears:)

  11. "we Arizonans"? What do you mean Bruce? You are a North Dakotan! Your mum and dad should have called you Stanley so that you would never forget!

    1. True, I was born and lived in North Dakota for 28 years but I have lived in Arizona for 47 or so years. Sorry, I am an Arizonan.

  12. OK, Ellen gets major points for figuring out the waffle. That was a mystery to me! (I did think "Eggo Sand," for what it's worth. LOL)

    1. In the interests of public honesty, I didn't figure it out when it came to me and had to have my elf explain it to me. But just to give me a bit of forgiveness, I'd never seen an Eggo before, though I had heard of them. So all of you who didn't get it get another reprieve from the hangman.

  13. I'd never seen an Eggo either so was puzzled by the waffle in the sand. Sandy Eggo makes sense.

  14. I was in the middle of typing a comment to ask for help with the waffle one, when the answer popped into my head! :)
