I was meandering around on this blog yesterday and checked to see how long I'd been writing it.

I was stunned to see it has been over 8 years!

My first post was on March 2nd, 2008 and it concerned my starting it up again.

This was my third attempt at blogging.

This is the 2,454th post.

That averages out to more than 290 posts every year!

What, one wonders, can one find to say for that much of one's life.

Nothing important, I'd guess.

Nothing earth-shaking.

Nor newsworthy.

Some time in the past I began copping out, sort of, on three days of each week.

Tuesday is devoted to Tuesday Travels.

Thursday is Throwback Thursday.

Friday is the Friday Funnies.

But with persistence, the number of page views has risen.

While, on a good day, I may get around a dozen comments, I know there are many more "lurkers" who check the blog from time to time.

In the 8+ years I've been posting here, I have accumulated more than 280,000 pageviews.

What do they find so interesting, I wonder.

I have contemplated stopping, like so many other once-upon-a-time bloggers.

Like I did twice before.

Still I keep plugging along, looking for something to fill these pages.

Many times, in desperation, I turn to music, and that's what I shall do today by taking the Wayback Machine to 1945 and Spike Jones and the City Slickers.

See you tomorrow.

  1. Oh, you know. It's like friends chatting, not so much about anything new or exciting, more keeping the conversation going and connecting. And making the odd new friend...

  2. You've hit a few milestones here. Lately, I've found it harder to figure out what to post. I feel like I've covered the city already even though that's not really true. I'm guessing I'll come out of the slump soon. Fix me one of those drinks on the top of the page!

    1. Hula's Modern Tiki on Central Avenue for the drinks.

  3. Thanks for the little observation. I've been blogging a few years now. Nothing important and mostly girly. I've mixed it up a bit and try to blog a post every 2 to 3 days. Still nothing important. I've managed to keep that up since January (per my resolution). I see more comments now. still not a lot. But I love all all three of them. haha!

    1. Lisa, thanks for stopping by. Come back again.

  4. 8 years is a long time to keep up a blog.

  5. I commented on your third post back then (as World photos) which is long gone. Glad you came back.

  6. I'm glad you continue to post. Reading blogs is like visiting with friends. There is a sense of community established and it is a way to stay in touch and connected.

  7. Guilty as charged...i am a lurker

    1. John, I'm always happy to have a Welsh lurker in my group. But feel free to comment whenever you like.

  8. You've been at this much longer than me. I've only been blogging since 2011.

  9. I read it every day, though I don't always comment. I started back in 2008, with my supersecret blog. It's still kickin'. I think my current one started around 2011. I'm living proof that nothing important has ever been said there.
