FAMILY HUMOR

When I think about my sense of humor I think it must have come from my parents.

I can remember listening to radio programs such as "The Great Gildersleeve" with them, as well as "Amos and Andy" and "Jack Benny".

Dad did a wonderful rendition of Harold Peary's raucous, rolling  Gildersleeve laugh.

But way, way back . . before either my older brother or I had been born . . Mom and Dad obviously had fun during their courting days.

Anyone who says the early 20th Century was dominated by stern, serious men and women obviously never met my parents.

I have my dad's sense of humor, too. Good thing because my mother didn't have any.

Love that pic of your parents. Both of my parents had a good sense of humour.

I don't recall my parents laughing much when I was young, although when I got older and moved to live with my mother I could see that she enjoyed socialising and laughing after a few drinks she would even tell jokes that shouldn't be repeated.

Was your father smoking a joint? No wonder your mum was laughing.

No, just a cigarette.

They are truly enjoying themselves.

That's a fun photo of your folks. We have pictures like that of my Mom and Dad. I think they were always happy together.

Sorry. I did not mean to cause any offence with my silly quip.

No apology necessary. I was not offended. I got a laugh out of it, as you intended.

Phew! That's a relief. I did not wish to bring your legendary wrath down upon my head.
