REMEMBER

We send them to war, ask them to endure a hell, and then all too frequently ignore them, deny them care, fail to acknowledge causality of illness and conditions and if they are of a certain color or ethnicity treat them poorly. This practice extends to the Revolutionary War. A beloved and highly respected Congressman Andy Jacobs Jr once opined, when politicians want to make war, they should send each other instead of the flowers of our youth. tc

  3. 37 years of Veterans Day assemblies and crying when a student trumpeter played "Taps" at the end.

  5. Yes, remember. I always think of my dad on Veteran's Day. He was a combat medic in World War II, tending to injured soldiers on the battlefields. I think of myself as a pacifist, but some wars really do need to be fought as long as some humans wield power in cruel ways. (NewRobin13)
