HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE EVE

Yes, tomorrow night is the big event: New Year's Eve!

There will be parties and champagne and fireworks (bring your pets inside) and general hooting and cheering throughout the bounds of the earth.

But yet . . .

                yet . . .

                            yet.

Some of us will be missing the whole event.

Some of us have seen too many New Year's Eve celebrations and next-day hangovers and same-old-same-old to get excited about it anymore.

I suspect the couple in this house will have the lights out around 8 p.m.

So to the rest of you, celebrate to your heart's content and may we wish you a Happy New Year.

We have other plans.

  1. Celebrate in your own way, warm and comfy.

  2. Yup. Been there down that and don't need to be on the road that night. Prefer to stay home by the fire with our dog.

  3. Happy New Year! I would love to go to bed early, but I’ll be up trying to comfort a terrified dog. No shortage of fireworks in this neighborhood unfortunately. Yee Haw!

  5. I expect to light a candle, big whoop! Then go to bed as usual. Remembering to blow out the candle..

  6. We feel the same way about New Years Eve. Lights out by 10:00 and hope for peace and quiet at midnight. (NewRobin13)

  7. I forgot! Our German friends celebrate by standing on a chair and jumping into the New Year! Bear in mind, that Hans and Edith were in their 80's when jumping off the chair.

  8. It's not a holiday I've ever got worked up about, either.

  9. A friend and I were just talking about this and we both agreed there's no shame sleeping through the ball drop. Happy New Year to you and your lovely wife.

  12. I know somebody else who celebrates New Years Eve like you do. We don't go to bed that early.

  16. I expect I shall be in bed ( with the dog) by 10.30 and hoping that there are no nearby fireworks to make the dog start barking later!
Happy New Year to you from SE England.
