Truth be told, my message this week isn't so funny.
I'm not sure how much longer I can continue these Friday Funnies.
To be brutally honest, I suffered a small stroke during my sleep a couple of weeks ago and it affected the use of my right (and dominant) hand somewhat.
It takes me longer to type these introductions of my deathless prose and witty raconteury (I made that word up but I think you get the idea.)
So to be clear the contination will depend on my patience.
But, to heck with that, let's see what popped out of the vault this week.
That's all I've got.
No, really, the vault is almost empty!
Elves?
Are you listening?
At any rate, if this is the end, please have an enduringly wonderful weekend.
And never, ever forget to keep laughing!

What will we do without our Friday dose of Fun?
ReplyDeleteHow about trying Voice Recognition to transpose your spoken words to text?
Sorry to hear about the stroke, but I'm hoping your hand can recover. Meanwhile thank you for still bringing us funnies. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOf course the legendary "Friday Funnies" by the legend who is known as Uncle Bruce must end one day for that is the way of the world - but not now Bruce, not now. Please battle on my friend. I expect that your typing skills will reboot after the shock of the minor stroke you suffered. We need the chuckles!
ReplyDeleteI hope you do go on but I certainly understand if you have to make adjustments. All the people I forward your Friday funnies I am sure feel the same.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about that small stroke and its effects on your right hand. I hope you can continue blogging nevertheless! This lineup of LOLs is great. I especially laughed at Medusa, Coal Mimers, and the Frog DNA.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU, thank you, thank you. Take care of yourself, post when you can and let us know how you are doing. You are the bright spot of our Friday mornings.
ReplyDeleteFucking hell. Life is hard. I'm so sorry to hear about your stroke. If you can't keep doing the Friday funnies I understand and support you. I just want you to know how much I have enjoyed them over the years. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm sorry to hear about your stroke and sure hope you can get some of the strength back in your right hand. Is there PT for that? I sure do enjoy your Friday Funnies and hope you can continue but I will understand if you can't. It's always so nice to see a post from you. Please take care.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you had a stroke and are having some difficulty with your right hand. I hope that you regain the ability to use it with ease. I wish I lived closer I'd come to your house and type for you! Thank you from our hearts to yours for these wonderful Friday Funnies. Take care there, dear friend. (NewRobin13 and Roger)
ReplyDeleteBruce, I don't really know how to respond to your bad news. A year ago, I underwent open surgery to have a very cancerous kidney removed. Last month I received the good news that I am still clear of cancer. That is the one piece of good news we have had over the last 2 - 3 months: three deaths of people I feel I have known well, one very well.
ReplyDeleteI cannot truthfully say I have always found the 'funnies' funny; some I haven't even understood. But that's not important. What is, and has been important is your desire to bring some happiness into the world, a trait that was shared by those other deaths I mentioned. Even our ailing dog still fusses and amuses us.
So don't worry if you cannot keep up with the 'funnies'. Your own life is also important. Take some time out for yourself. If you can 'drop us a line', now and then, fine.
I still don't know whether this response means anything, but all your readers do care. This is just my way of saying the same thing. Much love from Lucy and me.
Time for a break and a siesta, my friend. (Margaritas fit in your left hand, too.) I so appreciate your blog and have looked forward to starting my weekend with the funnies. Thank you from the bottom of my hear. Happy trails until we meet here again.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear this, Bruce. Often, specific rehab for stroke recovery can be quite successful, as I'm sure you know. Meanwhile, any joy and laughter you can bring to our lives is appreciated and loved by your many, many friends and fans. Take care, Bruce.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I'm so sorry to hear about your stroke. Praying it will be just a one-off and you'll recover. I know many people who have done so. I love your blog but mostly the Friday Funnies- I know I'll be laughing out loud when Friday comes around. Take care. You are loved and appreciated. Lini from Petaluma
ReplyDeleteBruce I echo the feelings of all these responses. I hope a little time and rehab will make the stroke symptoms go away. I too look forward to starting my Friday with your funnies and I get a kick when I see you include one of my submissions, but I understand if you need to take a break. I don't want you to, but I understand. Sending you love and good vibes.
ReplyDeleteFor those readers who have followed for quite some time "hang in there baby!" -m-
ReplyDeleteFor those of us who have follow you for quite some time and will understand; "Hang in there baby! -m-"
ReplyDeleteThat sucks! I hope you can get some right hand dexterity back. We appreciate all you do to brighten our world. However, you can only do what you can or feel like doing, Bruce! Sending hugs.
ReplyDeleteYou've had quite the year. I'm hoping things will get better, but understand if this is it.
