LEST WE FORGET

(From today's New York Times)

On December 7th, 1941, Japanese warplanes attacked the home base of the U. S. Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, drawing the United States into World War Two.

More than 2,300 Americans were killed.

  1. I have a friend out here who lived through the attack. He says it is as vivid to him today as it was in '41. For most though, it is increasingly being consigned to the pages of history. Poignant image you published today.

  2. My sister-in-law's dad was at Pearl Harbor that morning. There's a program where survivors of the attack can have their ashes scattered at the site of the Arizona Memorial, which is where these ashes were scattered, per his wishes.
