A SLEEPY SATURDAY

This Saturday begins with a couple of fuzzy pictures of one of the hummingbirds that have taken over our back patio (and its two feeders.)




Those rascals are not easy to photograph, given the speed of their movements.

Next - - - I swear this will be the last photograph I post of rabbits. How could I top six at once in my neighbor's grassy back yard.


You may doubt my count but there's one over against the wall in the upper right.  You can just barely make him out.  I couldn't believe this.  It resembled a scene from Peter Cottontail or Watership Down.

Meantime inside the house, our cats Muggles and Blackwell, have grown totally bored with watching the rabbits.  They both would rather have a nap.




"..and please, if you would, stop flashing that camera in my face!"

I did doubt your count until I used a magnifying glass and found that sixth bunny. Then I read more and saw that you'd identified the location of number 6. That's a lot of bunnies in one yard. I imagine they eat things people don't want eaten.

The hummers are very difficult to photograph, unless you've got a lens that a National Geo shooter would use. As for all those wabbits, wowzer! Have you seen or read Watership Down?

It looks like a Black-chinned hummingbird. And the second cat looks back-chiined too.

I won't mention what comes to my mind when I see a brace of rabbits, but it ain't peter cottontail, it's more like Farmer McGregor.

I suppose they may. Judy puts carrot chunks out for them in our yard.

I've never eaten rabbit but I'd like to try it. I hear it tastes like . . . well, you know.

Oh my. A saddle of hare, braised in a burgundy and mushroom sauce? Amazing. Or cut into quarters and simmered in a duck and herbs broth...the broth reduced at the last, the rabbit on rice with the sauce atop...heaven.
Hopefully no one is offended....if so, apologies.

Thought of another one. One evening my youngest daugher and I were in Calais, on our way the next morning to Dover, across the channel. We had dinner at a restaurant, I had lapin a la moutarde....rabbit in a mustard sauce. It was to die for.

I know what I would do with rabbits, I just need some mustard and crème fraîche!
