RAINY DAYS AND NIGHTS

Much of today was rainy here in Arizona's central highlands.  It didn't rain hard but it was nice to get a break from the weatherman. It reminded me of an old tune.

Can you tank up some of that rain and ship it to the central coast?

Not enough of it yet.

In the words of Oregon Logger Poet Laureate, Buzz Martin, we can quit hoot owling and get back to setting chokers in the doggone rain.

Isn't it grand? This cool front pushing south is supposed to bring us 3" +/- on Thursday, and we desperately need it. I'm SOOOO looking forward to it. :)

I grew up in Oregon, 4th generation. My family all worked in the woods, or the mills. I set chokers one summer over near the Trask river, working for a uncle who had a gyppo outfit with relatives in Tillamook. Bend was my home town, you live in Portland now I understand? Nice town, good place to live. I had a house years ago just off Hawthorne on 23rd.

I was raised in the Portland area, now live in Arizona near Bruce. I also had an uncle that owned a logging company, Hess Logging, in North Plains. A lot of my relatives and friends wordked in the woods. I had a very brief career as a choker setter until I decided I didn't want to die young. We have a lot in common. M father died in Bend and I had a step uncle that was the bartender at the Elks in Tillamook.

I always loved this song, almost as much as I love rainy nights.
