RAINY ARIZONA

I was watching a Phoenix television station the other night and the anchorman said "Wouldn't you know it?  52 weeks of the year and the one where we have both the Phoenix Open and the Super Bowl in town and it rains!"

Of course, the football game is Sunday and is being played in a stadium with a retractable roof.  And it didn't rain hard yesterday and I watched some of the golf tournament and it looked like they played through it.

Still, here's how it looked through my window yesterday morning.

Not exactly the best day for shooting that new tourism video.

  1. I loved it. I like the watercolor picture too.

  2. It may not be "Chamber of Commerce" or "Visitors Bureau" video, but to those of us in drought areas, it looks mighty nice. It is turning out that January may be the driest in recorded California history. The Sierra snow pack that began nicely in December is gone and that is a bad sign. We've had .2 of an inch since December here on the Central Coast. So unless February or March deliver what your picture shows, we will be 4 straight years of drought.
A tennis buddy, a retired physicist and science reader, says there are patterns of 200 years droughts in California. Yikes. Enjoy that rain. Maybe you can tank it up and ship it out west.

    1. Well, you've got everything else over there. Why not a drought?

  3. Interesting that Phoenix has a stadium with a retractable roof. I wouldn't have thought it necessary in that climate--normally.

    1. When the temperature climbs toward 100, that roof comes in handy.

  4. I am pretty sure many must praise this rain. Plus it gave you an opportunity for a rewarding picture!
