TUESDAY TRAVELS

A gray California morning in 1975.

Enroute to Newport Beach to interview John Wayne, driver/photographer Tim suddenly turned off the highway with an "Okay, we've got to check out this beach!"

(It may have been his first time in California, I'm not sure.)

So we made a quick stop at Huntington Beach State Park to look at seaweed and shells in the sand.

And then back to work.

  1. As we look back on that leisure suit era, it strikes me that guys wearing that attire all look like they are candidates for a funk band.

  3. Hmmm...seaweed or John Wayne. Really should not be a close call!

  5. Why did the Leisure Suit get such bad press? My dad loved them. Soft and comfy, held a pleat without ironing, it was a polyester miracle. And the great wide ties that went so well with those oddball colors. Sage green? I'll send you a photo of just what I'm talking about.
