WET ARIZONA

We had another period of thunder, lots of lightning and heavy rain at 4 o'clock this morning.

It woke us both out of a dead sleep.

We've had daily rain showers and thunderstorms for a week or two now in the midst of this monsoon.

Here's a look at one from the other day.

Addendum: Judy (SWMBO) just brought in the rain gauge she put out yesterday morning to show me that we have had two inches of rain in a 24 hour period.

That may not seem like much to many of you but it's pretty darned amazing for arid Arizona.

  2. Had my window open in the night and got wet! What a rain! On the way into town early this morning, looking at dark skies and driving in pelting rain, we both said, "Remind you of Michigan?" It's so un-Arizonian to say, but we've had our fill. And soon enough, it will cease, like turning off a faucet. And the very best time of year in Arizona will be back - autumn!

  3. Sounds glorious to me. Still not a drop here.

  4. If that gauge is accurate, it'd beat the all time record for the same period in Seattle, by a long shot.

    1. Probably true but we get intense, torrential downpours during the monsoon. Then not a drop for most of the rest of the year. Seattle gets near constant rain but it's only a drizzle or a mist a lot of the time.

  5. That's a lot of rain for Arizona. Too bad you can't send some to our friend Tom in Central California.

  6. Climate change, it is here. Minnesota has seen an unusually wet August, too, though it is not as dramatic as in your arid home. Pity we can't send some of it to the skies over California.

  7. Yes, California could use some of our rain.
