THE RACE IS ON

Four weeks and two days.

That's how long we have left until our moving day.

It will be our 20th move since we've been married.

This should be an easier one as it's only across town.

The last one, three years ago, was from Phoenix, over 100 miles away.

This one will only cover a little over 9 miles.

SWMBO has been packing boxes for weeks and we live among them and empty cupboards for these last few days.

It's a thankless task and, at our ages, sheer drudgery.

Oh, hell, who am I kidding?

It's always been a pain in the . . . . neck.

But it has to be done and so we shall clamber through it.

The only one really worried anymore is Blackwell.

When he's not climbing into yet another empty box he walks around and observes the hurly burly with this haunted look on his face.

"You promise you won't forget to take me along?"

We promise, big boy.

  1. He'll break in the new place for you. Just follow his lead. Best to you in this ordeal!

  2. Moving is a huge pain in the rear. We're considering it again (we've also moved many times through the years) but I think we're just too old to deal with it. So we'll probably stay put. But as you say, you gotta do what you gotta do.

  3. Ha! Our dog Ginger would climb into our suitcase whenever it was being packed for a trip.

  4. He'll be glad when it's done.

I did a move yesterday, just a few blocks, but it was a pain. Still, I'm glad to be out- my ex-landlord turned out to be an incompetent, malicious, stupid jackass.

  7. As long as he's in a box, Blackwell won't be left behind! He's a genius. That look is so you don't REALIZE he's a genius.

  11. Poor Blackwell! Cats, creatures of routine that they are, NEVER enjoy moving!
