THE LAST GIRL STANDING

After many years of being owned by cats, we have decided that when our last one crosses the Rainbow Bridge, that will be all.

Here is our last one.

The lovable Muggles, in black and white.

She has always favored SWMBO but she's taken to my pettings in recent days.

And without Blackwell to chase her, she's venturing out into the house more often, instead of just holing up on or under Judy's bed.

It's coming a bit late in her life.

She's 15 years old now.

But, after going through a health scare a couple of years ago she now seems healthier than ever.

And she talks more, DEMANDING that I pet her whenever I come near.

She has a loud raspy voice these days.

But she's still as soft and lovable as ever.

  2. You know that a visit to a kitty shelter might just change your mind.

  3. It's been a year since we said goodbye to our two dogs. One was 14 and the other 12. Pretty lonely around the house until about a week ago. The Beaner said "let's do it" and we're now owned by a 9 week old white lab. A lot of energy back around the house

  4. My last dog left us a few years ago and I haven't had the strength to go through that kind of loss again. I miss that kind of loving companion though.

  5. She’s house god now, eager to take on her responsibilities and accept full adoration.

  6. aww, I think it's wonderful she's finding her place in charge now, 15 years in good health is wonderful,, our daughter's cat passed over that rainbow bridge as you called it ( love that name ) and he was 23 years old!! We have had three cats live to twenty so maybe your lovely girl will also,,we can only hope.

  7. Oh, yeah right! After our last German Shepherd died, I said "No more, that's it, I can't do this anymore." Well, that lasted six months. And, you have seen our wonderful 15 pound ball of love and affection! Once you have cared for animals and/or children, it is hard not to have that love surrounding you.

  8. My dad made the same vow, and then wound up getting another dog. It's hard to live without animals if you're used to having them around. I'm glad Muggles is still with you and has come into her own! (I'm trying to remember if I knew Blackwell had departed -- did I miss that post, or am I that forgetful?! In any case, I'm sorry to hear it.)

  9. I hope you can all stay together for many more years. That said, I'l bet you you'll find life is just not the same without a furry family member, after all your years living with them. When we lost Luke I aid I couldn't go through that again. Six weeks later we had a new dog.

  10. Our last kitty lasted just shorr of her 20th. Perky almost to the end. Cake's grandmother had a farm cat that made it to 23, deaf and blind at the end but could still find the food bowl and the litter box.

  11. I made that decision about “no more” — after our dog expired some years ago. So far I’ve stuck to it. Not easy.
