Saturday dawned grey and chilly but the gals put out their signs and filled the driveway and the garage with bargain-priced goodies.
After about 4 hours they had collected around 70 dollars divided just about evenly between them.
Even the "Lookie Loos" had died down to a few.
So they packed it in.
We think the big Christmas parade in nearby Prescott probably hurt.
At any rate SWMBO said this is *definitely* her last garage sale.
Gayle says she'll sell some of the stuff on-line, which is a heck of a lot easier.
So, lesson learned and we move on.
There are other things to attend to.
Sorry to hear about the weather but glad you got a turn-out anyway. Saturday was pretty nice down here but it turned bleak and nasty on Sunday and it's still looking gloomy outside.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love the new header shot.
ReplyDeleteYou survived the garage sale! I had one, it went poorly. Now, we take our asst'd item to GoodWill.
ReplyDeleteYour new header is beautiful.
I love the new header and the cremation joke. I'm sorry about the garage sale. I'm lazy and get rid of my stuff through freecycle.
ReplyDeleteLynx Lake? Watson Lake? Yes, it was a rather damp and chilly day for a garage sale. No fun I'm sure. Not fun for those standing on cold concrete for the parade downtown either. Did that ONE year. Done with that. It really feels like winter is here.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Lynx Lake. Just must be a new bench since the last time I was there. Have you ever been there when the eagles dive for fish? Pretty exciting stuff.
ReplyDeleteLL, No it's Goldwater Lake. And I've never seen the eagles at Lynx Lake.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that garage sales work as well as they used to.
ReplyDeleteGarage sales can be fun, if you are the buyer.
ReplyDeleteIn my area the only things that sell well at garage sales are baby's and children's clothing and toys. Once my brood got past that stage, it wasn't worth it to me anymore.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous lake, no worries about me wanting to swim though.
ReplyDeleteI think the Age of Garage Sales is coming to a close. Nextdoor.com, craigslist, even ebay, are easier, better way to get a good price too. I've noticed a steep drop off in just the last 8 years, when we were furnishing the house and it was still good. This past summer was paltry. Estate sales are still good, but even they may not be a thing in a few years. Larger charity rummage sales will still survive I suspect.
I'm guessing that your car is happy now.
ReplyDeleteDouse yourself in lots of water on Tuesday. Just saying. :)
ReplyDeleteGarage sales are definitely hit-or-miss. I've never had one that went as well as I'd hoped! But $70 is nothing to sneeze at. As for selling stuff online, the selling part is pretty easy, but the shipping can be a real drag.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful new header photo. A nice look of winter. We like local garage sales. It's always fun to find something we didn't know we wanted but knew we had to have it!
