It was two weeks late but our first monsoon storm of the season arrived yesterday afternoon.
As I remarked, it's as if it was making up for lost time.
It rained, blew and hailed for three solid hours, sometimes lightly and at other times torrentially.
If you turn your audio on you can hear it pattering down.
In this later video, where it was raining harder, you can hear the water pouring down from the flooded eavestrough over the front entrance.
After it had finally stopped, Judy checked our rain guage in the tomato barrel and said we'd gotten nearly an inch and a half.
The cooler air felt good for a change although our summer heat hasn't broken for good and the season is only about halfway through.

We need some of that.
Huge rain to kick off monsoon! Like a river in the streets. Big wide rainbow over Mingus mountains. We got some gusty winds that I'll be cleaning up after in the yard and on the patio today. Our gutters overflowed too, which means up on the ladder to see if there is a blockage. Lots of thunder through the night. Love it!
Doesn't it seem like the world breathes a sigh of relief when it finally rains?
No doubt, it was quite welcomed.
All the plants must have rejoiced.
You can almost smell the rain on a hot road
Can't have mine! 😎
😊
Oh, yes. Especially with the high temperatures.
VERY welcomed!
Was THAT the singing I heard!
Yes you can and it smells wonderful.
That's a refreshing break! Nice to see and good for cooling things off over there. tc cambria
Why can't things just be even. Rain not too hard nor too little Not too hot! Not too cold! I know. I'm a dreamer.
Oh, yay! I want some of that, please!
We could use some of that! —-Cheerful Monk
After the heat you've been having I expected to see people out there dancing in the rain.
That rain will have given special relief to both plant and animal life as those guys have no opportunity to shelter from the heat in air-conditioned residences.
That's so great for your plants! My lawn turned green again after our heavy rains last week. :)
