MEMORIES OF JIMMY

This is one of the last songs the late Jimmy Buffett recorded.

It references the way scuba divers find the surface when they get disoriented.

And it says a lot about life in general.

Thanks, Jimmy.

  1. I am so out of touch with the music scene that I don't believe I've ever heard him before -- not knowingly anyway.

  2. I definitely remember hearing that advice when I was learning how to dive -- follow the bubbles! (Not that I ever did much diving.)

  3. Thanks for that. I saw him a couple of times in concert and he was just as good live as on his records. So sad that he is gone. I'll have to pull on my Buffett tshirt tonight and listen to this again. ;-)

  7. Like William, I hadn't heard this one before. It's somewhat unlike most of his earlier works. He was a favorite of mine in the 70's, used to listen to him in the OR.

  8. I've heard a few of his songs but was never a fan of his style. I'm more a rock and roll type.

  9. I imagine it might be more useful if you were stranded underwater and disoriented.

  10. I was sad to learn of his passing, apparently from complications from skin cancer. That tropical sun can be brutal, but I had never heard of skin cancer causing death. Now I know, and passed this on to my fairskinned5skn who lives in Miami.
