Call them the Days of Confusion.
When Christmas and New Year's both fall on Wednesday like this season, it muddles the mind into a gray mess.
I saw a thing on the Web the other day that said in part something like "No one really knows what day or time it is. Can we start drinking at 10 a.m.? Why not. Who cares."
I haven't reached that stage yet though the thought has occurred to me.
I thought I'd show you our Christmas dinner.
Which we had on the 26th, I think.
I got up and made yeast waffles and Judy fixed breakfast sausage Christmas morning and we stuffed ourselves to the degree that the thought of making dinner that day was just too much.
So I doctored up a frozen pizza and that was our meal.
After all, it's just the two of us.
But the next day we finally roused up enough to fix our yuletide feast.
Which is a bit of deflection on my part because actually it was reheating the leftovers from our Thanksgiving meal.

Yes! A good and quiet life. Hurray for retirement!
Well yes we have become day drinkers. Not even proclaiming it's 5 o'clock somewhere. And what day is it. I'm sorry but this week Thursday was Monday. This is not due to old age. It is due to mass confusion.
A well-deserved life indeed. Both of you are a source of joy to many.

😳
Some call it Twixtmas....when you are betwixt and between
As we've aged and have fewer and timers no guests, we make much less.
Twixtmas! Perfect!
Yes but make it taste great!
To my dying day I will obey the Christmas feasting rituals and not go "off piste" as you and Judy appear to have done this year. Stick with the schedule dude!
My beloved SWMBO says "We're old! We can do what we like!" And tonight we dined on leftover croissants, sliced ham, a wonderful white cheddar cheese, Dijon mustard, some brie, a mango habanero pepper jelly, tiny shrimp with cocktail sauce, etc. etc. If that's going "off piste", I'll take it, mi amigo!
The older I get, the more I appreciate boring--or more accurately, uneventful. As I have preached several times on my blog, we can make the holiday exactly what we want/don't want. More power to Judy and you!!
I have to agree with Judy on the beets, and I'm no fan of sweet potatoes, but the rest looks delicious. If drinking wasn't okay for mornings, then what's the deal with a Mimosa and Bloody Mary?
I am not a fan of beets either, but I do like quiet days.
Your leftovers made a very fine dinner. Except for the beets. Urk!
Confucius say, "Skiers who go off-piste might run into a rock or a tree.." There's also the possibility of avalanches or simply getting lost.
Enjoy the season and relax. Do it Your way.
😊
Now THAT'S the right attitude! 😏
"Eating half a cup of canned beets every day is generally safe for most people and can be part of a healthy diet. Beets are rich in nutrients, including fiber, folate, and antioxidants, and they can offer several health benefits, such as improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure." - from Healthline.
It was just grazing really but highly satisfactory.
We do, more and more.
I love Prosecco! Cheers to you and Judy, to the joy you bring to those who know you and to the blogging world.
Oops...I posted as anonymous but it's me...I love Prosecco, too!
Gee whillikers! 😌😌
Yay! So do we.
We've been saying every day, "What day is it?!" I thought it was because we were traveling part of the time, but maybe it's because of the way the holidays fall, as you said.
That looks delicious. I have no idea what day it is!
I could be a combination. Hope you don't forget to go back to work! 😀
It doesn't matter, Pat. It doesn't matter.
One blogger's kid named this the unweek. That seems to fit.
Linda Sand
Excellent. That kid's name wasn't Webster, was it?
Sounds pretty good to me. I have a son who is single, so every Christmas we have him and his kids. On rare occasions in the past it would be just us two, and it was kinda nice.
Kinda nice can be . . . kinda nice!
