My wife, She Who Must Be Obeyed, has told me and others many times over the years that she was raised not to plant new seedlings until after her birthday, which is on May 12th.
She noted that from then on it's full speed ahead.
Which puts us, she said, in the most ferocious time of gardening season.
I don't know if Wacky Wally, one of the most proficient contributors to my Humor Bank, knew that or not but he's right on time with this contribution he sent me today.
Happy gardening, everyone!
Gnome, gnome on the range..
ReplyDeleteYou fit right in to this happy little crowd, Boud!
ReplyDeleteNot knowing anyone who has a mid-May birthday, my guideline has always been not to plant until Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteVirtually the same thing, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteTell swmbo that she's a little out on the date. It should be May 21!
ReplyDeleteBut you're in ALBERTA!
DeleteHere we don't plant outside until after Memorial Day.
ReplyDeleteBut you're in Los Alamos!
DeleteVery sensible...even on hot days we have been having chilly nights here....no place like gnome..😎
ReplyDeleteMy Mom always said don't plant until her anniversary, May 15th!
ReplyDeleteThe original Red Hat Society?
ReplyDeleteI find that the best time to plant is when I have time to plant! Not really, of course, but her date is actually about right for us too.
My mom always said after Mother's Day was the best time to plant but our climate here is colder. I tend to fudge by a week or so either way.
