Why do Americans write the date in an illogical manner? Surely it should be day, followed by month, followed by year. I blame Donald Trump for the lack of logic.
I love these numeric palindromes. And I like the way we express the date. To me, locating the month first makes more sense than the day first, leaving you to wonder. When I get official correspondence from the UK, they get me a bit confused!
It makes more logical sense to me to begin with the smallest time period (the day), and then move on to the increasingly longer periods (the month and then the year). As for Trump, I blame him for everything bad and untoward. It simplifies life somewhat. And he does come across as a glutton for idiocy.
That only applies, perhaps, in the US.
ReplyDeleteThat wouldn't work in Australia where we put the month in the middle. I suspect your country is the only one who does this month/date/year thing.

ReplyDeleteWell I didn't know that.
