FISHTANK ENSEMBLE

I have only my friend, Phil, to thank for this journey into the subterranean depths of gypsy jazz.  Stand back but turn it up.

The Fishtank Ensemble.

Hey, my five minutes of fame. I hadn't seen this video. I thought the music was hot but I didn't know the woman singer was also in that category.

I might not be mature enough for this video. Okay, I'm not!

Looks like you've kicked your week end off with a little spice.

Terrific! The music is like Stephane Grapelli with the Hot Club de France. Where is this group from and where is the video taken? I also love that they don't take themselves too seriously.

Natalie, they are a California group and I believe the video was shot in or near Los Angeles.

The singer and guitar player are from California. The bass player is Serbian. The violin player is European having traveled all over Europe. I like the comparison to Grapelli. I had thought of Django Reihardt when I first heard this music.
A similar group is "Hot Band From Cowtown". Cowtown fuses Jazz with country music where as Fishtank fuses jazz with Balkan music. Both groups are fantastic musicians.
I read the Juneau, Alaska, newspaper each morning and was surprise to see Cowtown is playing in Juneau tonight.
