The intrepid young reporter (in black) jogging in front of the North Dakota State capitol with Governor Bill Guy (in glasses at right) leading a group in support of Bobby Kennedy's fitness campaign.
Although I am perfectly in step with the guv, I look badly in need of an adult beverage and a Marlboro . . . my diet in the 1960's.
There is something about those glasses and the haircuts that just screams 1960.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the old sweat suits that made sense, not todays fashionable jogging suits.
ReplyDeleteSo...did you get a story while jogging with the governor?
ReplyDeleteJust the usual blather you get from any politician.
DeleteChasing down a lead?
ReplyDeleteMore like a feature, Steve.
DeleteThat must have been close to the whole population of North Dakota at the time.
ReplyDeleteNow that track is probably full of fracking oil wells.
There were about 640,000 people in North Dakota then. And the oil wells are probably 75 miles from there, in MY home county!
DeleteYou were doing the right thing to stay in shape, both: towards your body and towards your job!
ReplyDeleteRegrettably that was a one-time event, Therese.
DeleteYou looked like you were in top shape! Media trickery no doubt!?
ReplyDeleteNo trickery needed, Tom. I was in my 20's!!!!
DeleteNorth Dakota, huh? I'm guessing they didn't call it "jogging". It was probably more like "keeping moving so as not to freeze to death". :)
ReplyDeleteS
Pardon my poor eyesight, but it looks like you are running in a pair of lace-up Hush Puppies. Even that guy next to you has a pair of Converse All-Stars. And he's got a little adult-beverage-gut going on.
ReplyDeleteI love this picture :)
