As has oft been noted, this is the autumnal season of the year.
On a visit to Prescott, the now-smaller city to the west, we encountered a spare lot selling pumpkins.
Variety is the spice of life, eh?
The question then becomes "Are they for food or decoration?"
As I said in a different context yesterday . . you pays your money, you makes your choice.

As I'm sure you know, those 'decoration' pumpkins are not eating ones. But...if you want a great, really great, 'pumpkin' pie use Kabocha or similar squash. Much better flavor than pumpkin, and double the cinnamon, ginger and cloves. Not the sugar.
Having never made a pie that wasn't out of a can I'd hazard to say most pumpkins we see are purely decorative.
We've never cooked with real pumpkins so for us they'd be decorations, although when younger I loved roasting and eating the seeds.
I've been researching pumpkin recipes. Not getting very far.
When the girls were young, we'd carve the pumpkin, Lana would use the pulp for a pie and we'd roast the seeds.
So food and decoration, eh?
Decorations! Everyone knows pumpkin meat comes in a can.
They are decorations until some teenage ne'er-do-wells snatch them from the porch and smash them on the road.
In Florida, many of the churches fill their lawns with pumpkins which they sell to raise money to continue doing whatever it is they do that their parishioners don't want to pay for. Or something like that! :)
They'd be decorative, I expect!
I like pumpkin pie ok, but I think I would just use them to decorate :)
