In 1987 we visited our longtime friends, Tom and Lana Cochrun, in Indianapolis a few months before we headed south. Way south. I was presented with this homemade birthday card some time later.
While parts of that saga are not true, we did indeed move to Mexico and spent a mostly happy 4-1/2 years in the Guadalajara area.
And it's also true that you have arms, right? That's a good photo of you too. That isn't Phantom Ranch in my photo, I think it's the Indian Gardens area.
I've always been curious why your Mexican adventure came to an end.
ReplyDeletePrices began going up and it became nearly as expensive as living in the States. Plus I think we just got tired of struggling with the language.
DeleteThat is a great hat!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I still have it.
DeleteWas never sure if that was a surly mug shot or the photo of a man waiting for the coffee to kick in?
ReplyDeleteYou oughta know, photographer.
DeleteThat is a great beard!
ReplyDeleteLove the card,
ReplyDeleteSteve
Wonderful to have longtime friends with a sense of humour.
ReplyDeleteWell, if you didn't look so young, and if I knew what was in the cup, I might refer to that photo as "The Old Man and the Tea."
ReplyDeleteVery cool photos/posters! So, would you say Mexico is the place to go what with the current regime in power?
ReplyDeleteIf we were richer and younger . . . maybe.

You have great friends.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card! You do look a bit dangerous in that photo.
ReplyDeleteWonderful card to cherish.
