NEW HOME

We finally got a walk-through of the home we'll be moving to at the end of this month.

It's a small duplex.

We'll be in the one on the left.

The two-car garage will be a godsend for storing boxes and furniture until we can decide what goes in and what does not.

As I said this is a smaller duplex than the one we lived in for a number of years up until 2013.

All along we've said we're downsizing and we will be forced to somewhat, though most of what we've become comfortable with will fit.

The present tenant showed us through the place yesterday.

He's nearly all moved out so Judy got a chance to take a good look and see where our "stuff" will go.

Tomorrow we sign a contract, presumably for a year's rent, and soon (we hope) we'll be able to begin moving some of our stuff over there.

In just over two weeks a moving crew will come and move us entirely over.

We feel somewhat relieved, somewhat anxious, but some of the pluses are a gas fireplace in the living room, ceiling fans in each of the rooms and a larger patio than we had anticipated.

As I said repeatedly to Judy last evening, "it will work out."

  1. Can we use some of that garage space? The arcade of greenery out front is nice! Good luck with the transition.

    1. Yes, I like that, too. The back yard, totally walled and fenced from neighbors is also nice. The present tenant's wife was a gardener and most of her plants were still there in pots and it looked beautiful.

  2. Wow! The fireplace and the ceiling fans will be a plus from the house you are in. We sure love ours. More patio is going to be good. Didn't you just sell your patio table and chairs in the garage sale? Whoops!

    1. Yes, we thought the patio would be much smaller. Drat! But we still have the table and two chairs that we have out front now.

    1. About 9 miles, Tim. Just on the other side of town, near where we lived in a slightly larger duplex before.

  4. I'm sure it'll work out. If you need a break, I know a nice place in Butte Mt where there is a bedroom ready for you both. For a while. Couple months. Be out by first snow. etc.....
    Cheers,
    Mike

  9. It looks fairly new and would appear to be a nice place. Garages are important. Mine is a 2 1/2 car garage and I love it. I can store stuff, have workbenches, park the car inside, and still have lots of room to move around. Hope that all goes well as you follow through on the move.
