MAKING BREAD

I have heard that some bread bakers insist that all of that kneading is good therapy.

Me?

I let the machine do it.

I love my bread machine.

It takes all of the work out of bread production and turns out perfect loaves.

That's a loaf of whole wheat studded with craisins that I (the machine, actually) turned out yesterday.

Can you smell it?

SWMBO could and came in from the other room to slice the top off and tell me it tasted great, as usual.

As a special treat for my wife of 47 years, as of today, I have a loaf of rye with caraway rising in the machine now, soon to bake and send forth those enticing aromas.

  1. I think I CAN smell it! I have a Breadman. It's probably 20 years old, but every now and then I get it down and bake some bread. The boys and Hick love it. We haven't tried craisins in the whole wheat.

  2. MMMM, one of my boyhood friends turned to baking in his 40's, he and his partner's bakery make all the bread for Microsoft and have specialty bread shop in Seattle. Water injection ovens, etc. He sent me his basic recipe, I've made it a few times, lotta work. I gave to my daughter who has a bread machine like yours, she loves Tom's bread and customizes her loaves like you do.

    1. Judy is making coconut shrimp for dinner. I went to the store and bought a six pack of non-alcoholic St. Pauli Girl. (We're simple folk these days.)

  6. I gave up making bread some time ago, but have now begun using the machine for making dough for rolls and buns etc. So like you, I love my dough[bread] maker. Congratulations on the 47th. Hope there are many more anniversaries to come.

  7. What the hell are craisins Mr C? Sounds like the kind of ingredient that a crazy baker might add to his dough - not raisins but craisins! 47 years? Some guys get less for murder!

  11. My uncle and aunt have a breadmaker. They'll set it to start baking before they wake up, and they're awakened to the smell of fresh bread.

  13. Funny but today I was looking at the bread maker that someone gave us and that we have never used. I was thinking how easy it is to buy bread but your loaf looks pretty good!
