I always have to remind you that even though we live in sunny Arizona our home is at nearly 5,000 feet elevation and we do get occasional snow here in the winters.
We had our first snowfall this morning for awhile but since the temperature outside was about 35 degrees F. none of it stuck to the ground.
But it must have stirred something in SWMBO's soul because a little later I saw her getting out our Christmas decorations.
She sets up this tableau on our bar but asked me how I was going to photograph it without getting kitchen "stuff" in it.
It is difficult but by going low and getting only part of that big tree I think I eliminated most of the clutter.
Another holiday scene sits atop a table in another part of the room.
There's a wreath on the front door.
And a crystalline drape over the fireplace.
And speaking of fireplaces, check this one out.
I must confess to a bit of skullduggery.
That's actually the annual tape of the yule log on our television screen.
It's an annual showing that will be available until December 31st and there are Christmas carols along with it.
Oh! And this year they've improved the tape with animals!
There's this lovely orange cat and later on a whole passel of curious kittens.
There's a sort of sad-faced dog.
And even a piggy who seems to be enjoying warmth from the fire.
As they say, there's no place like home for the holidays.
There's a Hallmark channel?
ReplyDeleteYou certainly do take Christmas seriously!
You are ahead of me with the decorations!
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't have this paper due today, I would have put up the tree & such yesterday. Sigh. Tomorrow then! Yours are very nice, I'm not putting up that much....just the 2 of us, no kids & no expected visitors other than the stray neighbor. :-)
ReplyDeleteeverything looks beautiful and that's an amazing fireplace channel!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Though I imagine SWMBO asked how you could NOT show the kitchen, not expecting you to actually SHOW the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteHick put up our tree today. My contribution was wrapping presents, and finding a channel called Country Christmas for him on DISH, which played songs but didn't have a picture as great as that Yule Log. Just the song facts flowing from top to bottom on the screen.
Festive indeed. Even with the virtual yule log and fire. Happy Christmas, Bruce.
ReplyDeleteyoutube and Amazon Prime have the virtual fire in the hearth with or without music. Without music the fire snaps and pops and is a rip roarin' blaze tricking you into believing it is throwing off some heat! I've done the fireplaces with real logs in Michigan and after all the cost of having wood delivered, keeping it covered and dry, mice and insects, hauling it in, cleaning out the grate, I'm just fine with the gas flame insert!
ReplyDeleteTo make a few extra bucks have you ever considered applying to be a Santa Claus in a local department store? You've already got the beard so when little kids tug on it it should stay on - unless they pull too hard. Ho! Ho! Ho!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely refuse to have Christmas in this rental house. No tree, no decorations, nothing. We are going to the Princesses home for Christmas and the Prince will be there too. Next year when the new house is finished and moved into.....watch out!!!
ReplyDeleteAt the Catalyst's casa, it is beginning to look a lot like.....
ReplyDeleteI guess that you REALLY have the Christmas spirit already. Your wreath is like mine except for the color since our decoration holds all red bells.
ReplyDeleteOK, I LOVE the fact that the Hallmark channel is broadcasting a Yule Log with a PIG! That is fabulous. I'm sorry we can't get the Hallmark Channel here!
ReplyDeleteAs you know, Dr. M has already pulled out all the stops - and we're not done yet! We probably wouldn't bother since we're going out of town for a week on the 26th, but we're having company on Sunday.
