I stopped at Chino Valley Safeway before noon yesterday and it looked like the trading room at Wall Street when the market is crashing. Shoulder to shoulder people both in the aisles and checkouts. All toilet paper was gone and the bottled water was going fast. In 25 years of going to this store; I have never seen anything like it. And Chino Valley is a small ranching community.
Chaos everywhere, even here in our small town on the California north coast. These are crazy times, and it brings out the crazy in people. We just don't know what's coming next. Stay healthy and safe there.
One of our drug stores has put up notifications around certain items, like toilet paper, that they're going to be limiting purchases to discourage hoarding.
My husband reports that Walmart is out of TP, but I was in Save A Lot and Country Mart, where the shelves were full of TP, and cases of water were stacked as usual. I didn't notice the hand sanitizer or paper towels, because I'm not hoarding, and it didn't occur to me.
The fearful hordes hit the grocery stores in my area Friday. Went for milk this morning and the staff of that store was in a daze. Talked with my brother this morning who lives in the upstate of South Carolina and he was breathless from dealing with the crowd in Sam's Club.
The senior staff at the hospital where I work are frankly a little scared.
We need our sense of humor. Also, toilet paper is manufactured in the US and there's not really a shortage, just hoarding. So it's a good choice for humor.

ReplyDeleteThe same at Fry's in Prescott Valley, Phil. Ramen was nearly completely cleaned out and pasta was going fast.

ReplyDeleteWhat do you call that room, THE WIPE OUT?
I love this! It is crazy here too - no toilet paper anywhere, no pasta, & no frozen pizzas for some reason!
