SHE'S HOME! (Updated)

The Mistress of the House, She Who Must Be Obeyed, my Beloved Spouse, aka Judy, has returned.

With one arm bandaged where they yanked the i.v. tube out, with a walker close at hand and with her loving companion, Sweetie Pie, come to sniff those awful hospital smells.

I saw her, SP, go into Judy's room several times this afternoon and look around, seemingly confused by the absence of her friend.

And once Judy got into her chair she came up to the arm to joyously greet her and celebrate her return.

Judy had a total knee transplant Monday afternoon and spent about 48 hours in the good care of the hospital staff.

OOPS: As commenter Barbara Anne pointed out below, Judy had a total knee REPLACEMENT, not a transplant. Please excuse this error by a tired but happy Catalyst.

But she was getting stir crazy today and anxious to come home.

Tomorrow she goes to her first Physical Therapy session.

But tonight she is back home and because of the drugs she is taking for pain she can't even have a cocktail.

Never mind.

I'll make up for her.

Let the healing begin! Fingers crossed it goes well, but at least the surgery is over.

Yea!!! Sweetie Pie’s attention will help with Judy’s recovery. So I imagine will your cocktail. Thanks for the update

Hurray. That is great news!

Yay! She looks great, although I bet her knee is a right mess to look at. But it should heal quickly with good care. And physical therapy! Will make her life a miserable for a few weeks, but the end result will be worth it.

Welcome home! I am anxious to hear your thoughts on a knee replacement. I have one in my future.

Those drugs ARE the cocktail for Judy. Just give her an olive.

Welcome home Judy. Glad the replacement operation was a success and you're back home. Reading between the lines, our Catalyst was lost without you.

They really don't give people time to start feeling sorry for themselves. I wish her well on the physio.

I'm sure Judy won't mind you drinking her cocktail. I hope the therapy goes well. Sweetie Pie will help with recovery just by her comforting presence.

Hooray! Best wishes dear 🙏🏽.

By the way, we got to California November 1st, 2015 and there's three years or more of California photos after that date to 2019. So if you'd really like to look at Marin county, check it out. We were lucky to be in a beautiful place by the lake. Best wishes to you and your lady. Aloha!

Dear Judy - Whatever you wish to eat or drink, just ask Bruce and he will prepare it for you. As in "Aladdin", your wish his command.

Tell Judy to take pain relief before going to rehab, and do the therapy if she wants to be dancing again. I know about the pain as I have had both my knees replaced. The really bad pain only lasted two or three days then all I needed was tylenol. The other stuff made me sick and that felt worse than the pain.. I have had excellent results and my surgeries were done about 20 years ago. The only thing I can’t do is kneel on my knees now, but hey, I’m 82. Just don’t forget to do all the exercises they want you to do. It’s hard but so worth it. My second knee was so much easier because then had a good leg to stand on. I got the second one done six weeks after the first. Hugs Judy. Gigi

Yay! So glad she's home! And she looks great - entirely too stylish to have just been released from the hospital.

Oh my, I hope the therapy goes well. I bet she is glad to be home. Everyone I know who has had this done has been very thankful. They say it's well worth it.

How wonderful to have your sweetie home again!
As a retired surgery and ER nurse, I'll say to follow the discharge instructions (amazing how many do not read them!) and the surgery she has is a total knee replacemnt (implant used) and not a transplant. Thought you'd want to know.

Cheers!

Barbara Anne, I *did* know she was having a total knee replacement. I just mistakenly said "transplant" in the post above. Thanks for commenting and pointing it out to me.

Good to have her home again.
Yes, do take pain meds BEFORE going to therapy. I wore culottes so I didn't have to change into their shorts. They need to be able to see your knee.

Looking good Judy ! Make sure not to "overdo "the exercises that they give you. I think I did and had a bit of a relapse of pain after a good start!
