ARSON RESULT

You may have read here about the tragic fire that engulfed the huge apartment, shopping and dining complex named Legado in the heart of Prescott Valley, Arizona.

I wrote about it here and here.

Investigators have long since ruled it an arson, committed by the same mysterious person who also started fires at the local high school.

He is unknown as yet but a reward for his capture and conviction has soared to 100 thousand dollars.

The loss to the builders of this project is put at 60 million dollars.

Here are some photos of the aftermath that I took today.

All of what you see will be demolished.

The owners of the property hope to rebuild.

As I said, the criminal who caused this damage is unknown.

As yet.

  1. Wow! That's a lot of damage. No wonder the reward is so large.

    1. The reward started out with 5 thousand dollars, I believe, and has just kept growing.

  2. I'm glad they will be hauling it away. What a huge undertaking. It could have been worse. It could have been a dry and windy day. Many more areas would have been involved. Truly sad.

    1. It reportedly began shortly after 1 o'clock in the morning following an explosion of some sort. And yes, it is surrounded by apartments, the town arena, and businesses.

  3. I don't understand the motivation behind this destruction. Were there a lot of bad feelings about the building of the complex?

    1. The perpetrator apparently was only one person, who had engaged in vandalism around the town.

  4. That is so sad and sick. I hope they get caught.

  5. The wreckage left by a huge fire is truly terrible. I hope the perpetrator is found and punished sooner rather than later.

    1. My wife and I were speculating yesterday that he may have left the area.

  6. It must have been burning for quite some time before being noticed. I sure hope they catch the guy and string him up before he does it again.

    1. Actually it was discovered nearly as soon as it began due to someone reporting an explosion to the police. Several fire departments kept it from spreading to any nearby buildings, including occupied apartments.

  7. I hope this person is soon caught, before he/she causes more damage and possibly kills someone. What waste. And what danger to the firefighters who have to deal with the fires.

    1. There was a lot of wood in the project which helped the fire spread rapidly.

  9. Wow. Astonishing. I hope they catch the guy. Hopefully there were security cameras that survived the fire...?

    1. A suspect has been photographed on several security cameras but as far as I know none from this incident.

  10. It always amazes me that these criminals can be so brazen. With all the cameras about AND a huge reward, it is only a matter of time until he is caught.
