THE BLUE BAG SAGA

Careful students of this educational blog, like Shirley of "Boots and Braids" . . .

. . might recall my random comment March 14th about a blue bag that had found itself stuck in the branches of a tall tree of one of my neighbors.

As proof I offered a photograph of said bag in said tree.

Based on a question from the investigator, Shirley, I checked and found it still up there.

Granted, it had been blown about in a gale force wind we experienced a few days ago but its hopes for escape were denied when it was snagged by some other branches of the same tree.

So here it is today, still secured in its lofty trap.

And just to prove my published pronouncement that it is indeed a blue bag, not a birthday balloon, here is a close-up.

I apologize in advance for the blurry nature of it.

It's not one of those questionable UFO pictures, it's just due to the technical insufficiencies of my smart(?)phone camera.

So that's the progress report as of today.

No progress.

I'll attempt to keep you posted.

  2. 🤣 Thanks for the update. It’s like you said, “we people more advanced in age have to have something to occupy our daily lives” and that bag is my current fixation. It’s so tangled up that we might have to call in the fire department for a rescue OR cut down the tree.

  3. It looks very connected and will probably stay there a LONG time! (forever?)

  4. Free The Bag!

Maybe you should call the fire brigade. The blue bag must be scared witless - snagged in that tree for so long.

  5. Well I have a white one in my tree. I think it will be it's one year anniversary soon. Blasted plastic bags! Why couldn't we have just had everyone using cloth or insulated bags? Trader Joe's still does paper bags which I love but of course there is the tree involvement . . . I'll let you know when my bag is gone.

  6. I'm wondering now just how long it will last.

  7. You don't fancy a spot of tree climbing then? 😉

  8. You could train a cat, and sent the cat up to free the bag, or a squirrel.

  9. I have 2 Valentine balloons stuck in my tree since 2/19/2025. I recorded the date so we can keep track of how long they stay. I like them as they let me know if it is windy out or not! I hope they stay up there for a long time.

  10. I think it's a gift to have that blue bag in the tree. It's a great distraction from everything else going on in the world. Yay Blue Bag!! (NewRobin13)

  11. Thank you for this update. We will all check back in two weeks for another. You have Friday funnies. What about the Saturday sack saga?

  12. I think there are people who specialize in getting bags out of trees. I'm not kidding. They probably charge a fortune.

Isn't that Jackie Coogan in your header, with Charlie Chaplin? Hard to believe such an adorable kid grew up to be Uncle Fester.
