SAT-UR-DAY, SAT-UR-DAY . . .

This morning a new recipe from the Washington Post Food section sounded interesting so I tackled it.

This picture doesn't really do them justice because they look like cookies.

They're actually muffins.

Maple Oatmeal Muffins and they came out pretty well.

By that I mean they tasted great but I think they could have used an extra minute or two in the oven.

The blotches you see are dried cranberries, sometimes called Craisins.

It's a pretty easy recipe that incorporates some applesauce, cinnamon, a touch of ground cardamom and vanilla, along with the rolled oats and maple syrup.

Like I said, they turned out pretty good on a first attempt but the next time I make them I'd probably bake them a tad longer.

Happy weekend, friends!

They look very good, I like muffins less dry, so I might prefer these.
It's going to be our first hot spell here in the PNW, supposed to hit the mid-90's both Sun and Monday...I'm going to limit use of the stove and oven. Tonight I'm having a Copper River sockeye fillet on the grill outside and a salad. Ceviche tomorrow with a baguette.
Hope you and Judy have a good weekend.

87 here right now. I'm too dumb to limit cooking on stove or oven. 'Course we have A.C.

As I said, (I think) they were tasty.

I've only ever had bought muffins and they were always dry and tasteless, so I haven't tried any since the 90s.

Thanks for sharing. I'm glad they tasted good. I'd never heard of the term "craisins".

I would like those muffins because oatmeal and maple are two favorites. Also I like things underdone. (weird, I know!)

Yum! They look delicious. I'm not a huge Craisins fan my muffins would have dried blueberries.

Those sound good. I like the addition of cardamom. Unfortunately to get the recipe, one must subscribe. Ah me.
