Smack that fish!
That Walleyed Pike was as big as I was.
My dad is showing off his prize catch from a fishing trip, probably to Carlyle Lake in Saskatchewan.
It was about 100 miles north of where we lived in North Dakota and was a favorite vacation spot during my childhood.
Pretty good fishing, too.

That fish is as big as you were! What a great photo.
BTW I had a great Walleyed Pike dinner Tuesday night at Tinker's in Indianapolis-Peter George's new spot.
Walleye is a benefit of the midwest. I don't think I've seen it on any California menu.
I love that photo - you were so cute :)
I haven't had Walleye since I was a kid.
What do you mean - "were"???!!!
Nice catch. I've caught a few here in Germany, but not so big. They call them Zander.
I think we also used to call the big ones Lunkers.
I was happily unaware that walleye can be found in Missouri many years ago when I was fishing a big pond for perch and largemouth bass. I had tossed in my worm, and was letting it sink when something took it straight to the bottom. I thought I had a bass, but when movement stopped, I figured my bass had gotten off the hook. Imagine my surprise when I reeled in my line and saw a walleye at the end.
I was also happily unaware that walleye have teeth. I though I caught a monster. I am not such a great fisherwoman. I almost dropped a catfish back into the water when I grabbed it with a shop towel to get it off my hook, AND IT CROAKED!
That's an impressive fish.
Walleye won't croak, they'll chew your arm off. :)
My dad and his friends used to bring home lots of them.
The kind of souvenirs to cherish.
