BIRDIE, BIRDIE

And now, Gentle Readers, for those of you who are getting sick of my cat pictures . . . a return to the bird bath!

This puffed up creature with a hint of red on his chest and brow is one of the many House Finches that reside in this part of Arizona.

They are the most frequent visitors we have, along with the damnable doves.

But of recent days, we have had repeat visits from this guy.

"I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. Demille."

The Ladder-Backed Woodpecker NOT showing off his flashy coat but as Judy said from the other room, "His bright red topknot makes him easy to spot."

(And I really must wash this window.)

Do I detect a nose print on the glass?

You very well might. Blackwell loves this spot.

The avian Michelin must have you at 3 stars.

Well, Blackwell has views of flying lunches, so of course he'd love that spot.

Blackwell must think of it as a buffet, from which he's been excluded.

Everyone knows cats and birds go great together!
The presence of your finch is kind of our robin's one here.

Even crystal-clear windows will blur your shot just a little bit -- there's no way around it. It's the hazard of shooting through glass! I'm sure these birdbath visitors keep the cats entertained. (Hopefully they're inside!)

I love seeing both of these birds! The little house finches are so cute and the wookpeckers are just fun to watch!

That wee finch is so cute!

The finch in the top picture is like a kid standing at the edge of a cold swimming pool, building up the courage to jump in.
