RELIVING THE FOURTH

We don't do fireworks.

We don't march in or attend parades.

We don't attend patriotic events.

We don't picnic.

Not really, though yesterday's dining table appears that we do and brought it inside because of rain.*

A plate of Judy's delicious deviled eggs.

But we do bend to tradition in one way.

We grill.  (Judy, at least.)

Nearly everything.

Brats, peppers, onions, potatoes, corn on the cob

It was almost disaster.

The propane tank went dry in the final stages and the grilled food had to be finished off under the broiler in the stove.

It was delicious.

A couple of solid naps followed the feast before I cleaned up the kitchen.

If I may change the subject just a bit here, Judy added a Tai Chi symbol to one of her fence mural balloons a couple of evenings ago.

She is known around here as SWMBO for She Who Must Be Obeyed.

And the saga continues.

* There was no rain but it's coming closer.  Maybe tomorrow.

  1. Did she boil that brat in beer prior to grilling?

  2. Tai Chi? Yin-Yang, I think. That food looked amazing! What did you have for dessert?

  3. Brats?? Human or animal? Do they roast brats in Arizona?

  4. It is called the Tai Chi symbol but it encompasses the Yin and the Yang.

  5. We had Pineapple Dump Pie for dessert. Got the recipe from our former neighbor, Ginny.

  6. Natalie, brats is short for bratwursts. I think you may even find them in your markets in England.

  7. I always have a second propane tank on hand...sometimes it is empty also.

  8. We used to have a second one too, Joe, but apparently gave it away in one of our moves.

  9. That all looks fabulous! We had hotdogs - grilled in the toaster oven. We were just glad that the condo came with a toaster oven!

  10. Glad you have rain on the way.
And after that great grill meal, you wouldn't have had the energy to march anyway.

  11. Nom-nom! I would clean that plate. I couldn't find any corn that looked good this time. We'll make up for it in the future. I like the details on the balloon.

  13. Great looking food! I hope you get some rain. I don't think we will down here. They predict dust but no rain.

  14. Appreciate the update on the mural. Think this a better idea than the dull ol’ redwood refreshing paint job we did on our fence when we lived in AZ.
