A VISITOR FROM THE TRIASSIC ERA

I spotted this grasshopper on a distant wall yesterday and scurried in for my camera.

He was about 2 to 3 inches long, a huge hopper.

He waited patiently for me to finish photographing him.

I used my photo editor to rotate the above picture to give you a better look at this rascal whose family dates back 250 million years, the oldest living chewing herbivores.

He appears to be a well-armored fighting machine.

Brrrrrr.

Amazing details on the little critter.

That's a fantastic picture. He is quite beautiful, and also irresistible to fish on the end of a hook.

A beautiful specimen. Designed well, wouldn't you say?

In case of an atromic war, we may want to trade our bones for the exoskeletons insects have.

He does look like he's wearing a fancy set of armour.

Wonderful pictures. It is amazing that a few creatures did not need to evolve very many new characteristics in order to survive over thousands of years.
