A VISITOR FROM THE TRIASSIC ERA

I spotted this grasshopper on a distant wall yesterday and scurried in for my camera.

He was about 2 to 3 inches long, a huge hopper.

He waited patiently for me to finish photographing him.

I used my photo editor to rotate the above picture to give you a better look at this rascal whose family dates back 250 million years, the oldest living chewing herbivores.

He appears to be a well-armored fighting machine.

Brrrrrr.

  3. That's a fantastic picture. He is quite beautiful, and also irresistible to fish on the end of a hook.

  5. In case of an atromic war, we may want to trade our bones for the exoskeletons insects have.

  7. Wonderful pictures. It is amazing that a few creatures did not need to evolve very many new characteristics in order to survive over thousands of years.
