OH, WOE

I just turned to the web site of the local paper and discovered alarming, saddening, depressing news: the Iron Springs Cafe in Prescott has closed.

Long-time readers of this blog will remember that it was my favorite eating place and I had written about it here and here and here and probably many other times.

Apparently the beloved landmark closed its doors earlier this month.

Another victim of Covid-19?

I can only presume so.

I am sad, very sad.

No more Bloody Caesars.

No more Gumbo.

No more Blackened Catfish.

No more other taste sensations.

No more fun.

If it is forever, R.I.P., and thank you for so many good times.

  1. While i wasn't a steady customer due to living in Chino Valley; I do hate to see a old Prescott institution fade away. I did have plans to eat there after reading your blog last spring but then the virus hit.

  2. That is sad to hear. I'm so afraid that many really good places will not survive.

  3. It is sad to hear about businesses we love close their doors. We've seen quite a few in our neck of the woods....

  4. Oh no! Perhaps it's only temporary? Or maybe someone else will buy it and reopen it once all this Covid stuff is past.

  5. ☹️ That's so sad, especially because it's just one of many.

  6. That's a shame. It's happening everywhere. Perhaps as things normalize, it will open back up or become a different(and possibly also good) restaurant. Different is the key word; we are looking at many changes, too many to deal with sometimes.

  7. Our local pub has closed too. I'm hoping it gets replaced by something just as friendly and nice that all the regulars can return to.

  8. Looks a good place too.
Our village cafe and chip shops are doing takeaway/carry-out, so at least they are surviving. The village bar never did food..a spit and sawdust type of bar...so that has been closed for a long time.
The next pub/ B&B/restaurant closed down(5 miles away)...soon to be three homes. At least it will be a conversion of the 19 or 18 century building.
