Oh, what lovely photos -- and what a beautiful bird. It's a scrub jay, right? I've seen one in my life (so far), on a trip out west, and they are gorgeous. I love jays.
My mom was losing her cognizance toward the end of her life. I took care of her and dad in their final years. I found an old pitcher pump in the shed out back and I used to to contrive an old country style fountain in the back yard, under the big tree, in clear view of the sliding doors where mom and dad would sit in their wheel chairs and look out. The mountain jays loved the shower. They would swim in the small catch basic I dug at the base of the fountain and run under the stream. After they would finish and fly away mom would call me to turn it off. I was wasting water. She could not perceive that a little pump was recirculating the water. Your picture brought back those memories, thanks.
I'm glad you're posting bird bath pictures since we don't have one at our new house (YET!).
ReplyDeletePerhaps she was just shy. How about a bird-bath shower curtain?
ReplyDeleteShe is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHandsome fellow!
ReplyDeleteHe was wondering why you so rudely refused to provide a shower cap.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great picture of him taking the plunge!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of Tom's shower curtain.

ReplyDeleteYes, also known as a Mountain Jay.
DeleteVery cute, but not as cute as the commentary! LOL
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love those Mountain Jays but, they will clean you out of peanuts in record time if you put any out.
