WHY I LIVE IN ARIZONA

I snapped this selfie yesterday on a trip to the grocery store.

The date was November 26, 2017 and even with a breeze it was a balmy t-shirt day here in the Arizona central highlands, elevation about 5,200 feet.

I grew up in Stanley, North Dakota, where the high temperature yesterday was 34 degrees.

'Nuff said.

That's a pretty fantastic temperature. Maybe even a trifle warm, actually!

A lot warmer than here! We're below freezing and had snow in the night.

Was this the most phenomenal Thanksgiving weekend or what? Fabulous to be outside every day of the 4 day weekend. We've been spending as much time as possible on the front porch before we lose that 'room' for the winter.

Growing up in Grand Forks I used to hear, "Well, at least the wind doesn't blow much when it's below zero." or talking to my grandmother on the phone, 'It's mild today." the temperature would be 20-30 degrees. Her definition of breezy was a 25 mph wind. She did know how to "bundle up" On the other hand Gram and Gramps would spend 5 weeks in Santa Monica in January-February.

I'm in Seattle at the moment, but I saw the temp in Butte yesterday was 54.....probably 20 degrees above normal.

I grew up in Fargo and don't miss the winters at all.

You look happy despite whatever is attacking the top of your head, unless you have adopted a punk style.

But what about that 115 in August?

You're confusing where I live with Phoenix, which is 4000 feet lower and much hotter.

You look happy to be in a t-shirt in November.

I hear ya! We were in shorts for Thanksgiving, but today was a sweater day. crazy!

We hit 75 here in Missouri today. I think the bell-ringers manning the bucket for Christmas donations worked up a sweat. Santa will need shorts this year if the weather doesn't break.

But I thought I've heard you mention some of the extreme heat in your area, too? Your average summer days top out at...what? 90...95...over 100?

Catalyst said...

Ah, yes, infrequently. Last year was an anomaly, due probably to the effects of global warming. Anyway, we don't call it "extreme heat" until it gets over 100.

I will tolerate heat over freezing any old day.

Ah yes, it's been a toasty November for sure.
