Here in the United States of America the July 4th weekend is in full swing.
Even with the temperature soaring.
Depending on whose website you check, our temperature is supposed to peak today at anywhere from 95 to 102 and it's supposed to reach 113 in not-too-far-away Phoenix.
For those of you in the rest of the world on the Celsius scale that's 35 to 45 degrees.
Maybe I should just think in Celsius.
It seems much cooler.
Anyway if you're anywhere where the mercury is rising beyond comfort take the advice of the experts.
And to keep my mind off the heat I've been writing poems.
Here's one of them.
Roses is red,
Violets is purple.
My darlin's sweet,
Just like maple syrup'l.
Hmmm, maybe that's why my Canadian friends sent me south.
Tomorrow (4th of July) I will be giving thanks to Almighty God that we in Great Britain managed to wriggle out of our early relationship with The States. I mean, who would want to count these guys as family - Charles Manson, Jeff Bezos, Marjorie Taylor-Greene, Donald Trump, The Boston Strangler and Bluto (from the "Popeye" cartoons)?
ReplyDeleteBut . . . there's Boris Johnson, Jack the Ripper, Margaret Thatcher, Johnny Rotten, Henry VIII, Neville Chamberlain and on and on. Shall we meet in a pub/bar and thumb wrestle?
DeleteTouchez monsieur!
DeleteStay cool. It is 23˚C here right now but sunny.
ReplyDeleteHere in slightly cooler NC (it's 88 degrees right now) I'm hoping the air conditioner repairman can come to our house today! I know I'm spoiled, but sleeping when it's 84 degrees in the house is RUDE.
ReplyDeleteWho needs climate warming when we have the riots?
ReplyDeleteThe temps never have to get above 70 in the summer for me to be happy. Anything over 80 is way too much. My one summer in Phoenix changed my ability to put up with heat. I hope you get some respite there.
ReplyDeleteRobin, I think that's what September is for!
DeleteHappy Fourth of July, ungrateful colonials.
ReplyDeleteThat's SO hot! 85 here and just about perfect. PacNW summers are why we put up with the rest of the year.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your 4th of July celebrations.
ReplyDeleteI like the sweaty poem. I'm glued to the heater here in Sth Aus. and I'll be inside for most of Spring too because of the pollens, so the warning to stay inside until November 2nd is perfect for me.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great Fourth in spite of the heat. Fingers crossed it cools off soon.
