Sedona, Arizona is a small town in northern Arizona . . famous for art galleries, crystals and vortexes, not to mention beautiful scenery in the red rocks.
But yesterday a huge thunderstorm rolled directly over Sedona, dropping lots of rain and causing the normally placid Oak Creek to flood in low-lying areas. One place hard hit was Tlaquepaque, a Mexican themed mall of galleries, shops and restaurants with some huge sycamore trees. To see what happened, check out these photographs by Karl F. Holy moly. The one picture of the car with just its fender sticking out of the mud...wow.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a disaster. Many thousands of dollars of damage to automobiles and I would imagine Tlaquepaque suffered greatly, too.
ReplyDeleteWOW. No lie on the Red Rocks and red mud, eh? We are heavy with clay here with the Chesapeake on one side and the Atlantic on the other. We get a lot of flash flooding in the region and it's like glue when it happens.
ReplyDeleteLots of rain here past few days too, with a tornado warning even for 5 hours on Friday till noon. Not the best of comfy feelings.
Hope things are drying up!!
There's an annual festival at Tlaquepaque and the word has that it will go on as scheduled this weekend.
