It's the last day of June.
The sun is shining.
The sky is blue.
Yet it's a cool morning as we have a slight break in the weather while the eastern half of the nation is sweltering in high temperatures and humidity.
Ah, yes, humidity.
It's one of the joys of living in Arizona.
Right now the humidity is about 25 percent and that's high for us.
Normally it's in the single digits.
Tacking off in a different direction, we visited the Prescott Writer's group recently for a talk on self publishing.
It was quite interesting and the speaker began her talk by saying the days of the vanity press are done and gone.
That's a good thing, I think.
Afterwards we went to a restaurant for dinner and started our meal with one of Judy's favorites - spinach artichoke dip and chips.
We both loved it and commented that we should duplicate it in our own kitchen.
Then when I began reading my daily New York Times Cooking email today one of the first recipes was for, you guessed it, spinach artichoke dip!
I printed it out and we plan to make it perhaps tomorrow.
With all the cheese in this recipe we think it may be our dinner, rather than just an appetizer.
Tacking again, my Arizona Diamondbacks (the baseball team, not the rattlesnakes) lost a one-run game last night but the L.A. Dodgers also lost so we maintain a 3 and a half game lead over them in the National League West.
And Tiger Woods recovered from a shaky start in the Quicken Loans National golf tournament with a 5 under par round yesterday which means he'll once again be playing this weekend so I'll probably be camped out in front of the t.v.
That's life in my corner of the world.
I hope you all have a positive weekend.
We are a touch cooler here in Colorado today. But the fires still burn. So sad. Hope we get some rain.

ReplyDeleteWe'r going semi-vegetarian tonight. Mediterranean salad. Bacon wrapped fresh asparagus over rice. All washed down with a nice Zinfandel. It's cool enough for a sweater this morning in the canyon and our goldfish are pigs.
Heat and humidity here through the weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt is 30˚C here with a humidity of 62% making it feel like 40˚C and we are supposed to go at least 5 degrees higher this afternoon. I think I could take the dry heat better than this stuff.
ReplyDeletePictures and a taste test please on the dip.
ReplyDeleteGood on you.
ReplyDeleteGO DIAMONDBACKS! (especially against the Dodgers.) hehe
ReplyDeleteIs the vanity press dead? I would have thought that with publishing on demand -- printing single copies as needed, that kind of thing -- it would be flourishing. Or is everyone just writing blogs now? (Actually I think even blogging is considered passé in some quarters.)
ReplyDeleteI think many are self-publishing on Amazon Kindle. I do think newspapers are doomed and am surprised they are still printing.
ReplyDeleteRodeo weekend! The roads are jammed. Be careful! There are tourists out there!
It was even pleasant down here in the oven!
ReplyDeleteIt's been getting up in the low 70's, supposed to be only in the 60's early in the week. We're at altitude, 6K, so only a little higher than you, but quite a bit north. Still have snow on surrounding mountains. We too have low humidity, usually. We also, because of the altitude, drop quite a bit at night, often there will be a 40 degree differential in a 24 hour period.
ReplyDeleteAn attention-grabbing discussion is worth comment. I think that you need to write extra on this subject, it may not be a taboo topic however generally individuals are not sufficient to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers online casinos for us players
