CHIVE BLOSSOMS

Our very healthy Chive plant has been putting out towering flower stalks recently.

Judy trimmed them off, brought them inside and put them in a vase.

So I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to take a decent photo of them.

I've played around with my photo editing software and what I've come up with are some sorta interesting images.

See what you think.

At least it kept me from totally wasting a couple of hours.

  1. They really are pretty flowers. I tend to keep mine to seed, hoping to get them to spread to the front next spring.

Nice shots, very different, all interesting.

  2. Interesting post-editing colors.
    Are they edible?

  3. I like them in the vase - I never thought of that. My favorite pic is the 4th one!

  4. Roger, the Google says they are. These are Garlic Chives (aka Chinese Chives) and the Almighty G says the white blossoms have a garlic flavor that is stronger than the leaf (stalk) itself. I haven't tried the flowers but now I will.

  5. Let us know, I had no idea they might be edible.

  6. Should Fish More - Mike, I tried one. At first it tasted sweet, then the garlic flavor came through. Judy said she's going to put some on our burritos tonight.

  7. It's just your chive, talkin'. Not tellin' you lies. Chive talkin', flowers in disguise!

I like the shot of the vase arrangement, showing their long stalks. Maybe one could garnish a Bloody Mary! As for your editing experiment, I like the second of those closeups. Just the right level of menace.
