SECOND SHOTS

Judy and I will get our second shots of the Moderna vaccine for Covid today.

I've been hearing a lot from friends about the side effects they've been having.

As far as I can tell, there is no rhyme or reason for them.

Some people have chills, some have fevers, some people are fatigued and sleep a lot, some have just a slight soreness in their arms and some have no reactions at all.

(I'm counting on being in that last group.)

But mostly the effects seem to last only a few days at the most.

And as one of my correspondents put it, better to be sick for a day or two than to get the virus.

So we will march in like good soldiers and hope for the best.

Judy has a reward for us.

We're going directly from the shot-shooting arena to pick up a take-out dinner from a Chinese restaurant!

  1. Let me know, if no uncomfortable reaction, I will make sure to do Chinese after my second...what the heck, either way I'm all for Chinese dinner!

  2. Had my second shot with almost no soreness in arm and absolutely no other reaction. Consider myself very fortunate.

  3. I hope your 2nd shots go well without any side effects. Keep us posted. I had my first shot on Friday and experienced a bit of fatigue, headache, and chills on Saturday. Second shot scheduled for April 2nd.

  4. The experts say the better your immune system, the worse the side effects.

  5. Glad you are getting your second jab. We had Moderna...We were fine that day and slept well. The next morning Lana was a bit dizzy. I woke up feeling like I had run a marathon..muscle and joint aches and fatigued, but it had all passed by mid afternoon. A Tylenol extra strength did the job before the symptoms abated.

  6. My mom had no reaction to the 2nd Moderna except a sore arm, and she's not complained about that at all. She would if it really hurt; she's not stoic. I've only had one shot of the Pfizer, so I'm hoping for the best on the 2nd one. As you said, it's still WAY better than getting that unpredictable virus.

  7. Lucky you! I haven't had any yet but my Dad has had both and had no side effects.

  8. Jeanne and I had our second Moderna shots yesterday.
Jeanne is exhausted and has been sleeping all day and has mild flu symptoms.
I had had a mild headache and doing fine.
If Phil is correct about people with a good immune system having more extreme side effects, I may be in trouble!

  9. I highly recommend a treat after, just because! I did not have anything other than just a little tiredness and a sore arm. I had the moderna vaccine as well. I sure was glad to have it prior to plane travel!

  11. After my second shot, I had late evening feverishness and some shortness of breath. This occurred on two consecutive nights. But it indicated that my immune system was operating "within acceptable parameters." My first jab left an little ache, but then I suspect that was down to the 'jabbist' and exactly where she jabbed.

  12. My side effects didn't start for 24 hours, then it was pain at injection site, slight fever and headache, fine the next day.

  13. I expect it'll be summer before I can get any.
