Up here in the north, it is, indeed, the day of the Vernal Equinox.
On this day the sun is directly over the Equator, which means that every place on earth has exactly equal amounts of sunlight and darkness: 12 hours.
But up here the weather will slowly get warmer while south of the Equator, it will get cooler.
Allegedly.
And there's this:
Some early birds among us are already perusing seed catalogs or visiting plant nurseries to rush the season.
Others just take the changing seasons in stride and with total boredom.
If you're like Ella Fitzgerald, singing . .
Spring is here
Why doesn't my heart go dancing?
Spring is here
Why isn't the waltz entrancing?
. . then you may understand the ennui of that feline above, our Visiting Cat, Matty, catnip sedated and ready for his nap.
That looks like a satisfied cat!
ReplyDeleteSpring! Does that mean I have to start weeding? Indoor cats don't really care about the weather although Mari prefers any day when the fire is running.
ReplyDeleteLove those tulips! We didn't live too far from Holland Michigan where there are fields of them and a big tulip festival. I'm planting seeds today in the wildflower garden!
ReplyDeleteMatty looks very comfy there. I'm pretty sure he thinks he's home.
ReplyDeleteWell he is. Sort of. 😉
DeleteMatty has the right idea.
ReplyDeleteThe cat nap here is being interrupted by watching the big dance...no boring moments.
ReplyDeleteI love your tulips header. I'm glad things will finally begin to cool here in Australia. I'm sick of being sweaty every time I step outside.
ReplyDeleteMatty is wonderful to visit you.
ReplyDeleteI was happy to have spring here until I heard that it would reach the 90's by the weekend.
