BLACK SATURDAY!

One of my faithful contributors to the Humor Bank sent me this photo last night with a note: Blackwell would be proud.

For those of you who don't know, Blackwell was my beloved and departed black cat whose photo is on the upper right of this blog.

  1. Funny! Was Blackwell named for Mr. Blackwell, of the worst-dressed list fame?

  3. Cool shot. Blackwell would have fit in perfectly.

  4. There's a small settlement in northern Derbyshire called Blackwell. I guess you must have named your black pussy after it.

    1. I did choose the name because it sounded British and dignified.

  5. We always had 1 or 2 black cats until the last matriarch, Ziggy, passed a few years ago and we've been with Gingers/Tabbies or Tiger cats since. Present population-two Gingers, Hemingway more orange and Sunny more yellow and Miss Joy, a Tiger. But we loved our black cats.
Our neighbor had three black cats two of them from a rescue shelter where they were imprisoned for being anti social. Larry and Moe were brutes, huge black cats and predators. One or both of them sent a couple of our cats to the Vet. Eventually one was put down. The other is aging and she keeps him caged most of the time.
Her third black, Coal, is a much friendlier lad, but all of the neighbors shun him, thinking he may be like Larry and Moe. We never kept a black male cat, ours were all queens.

  6. Until recently most of my cats were black... actually of the three I have left, 2 are black. It is a dominant gene and most of the rescued cats are black and hence most of the unadopted cats are black.

  8. That's a lot of cats! The food bill must be huge. Unless they all catch their own mice.
